Iulian Dragoș
Iulian dreams about a world where the Scala programming language is the default choice in the enterprise. He learned Scala by writing the compiler backend for it during his PhD at EPFL, back in 2004, and he was the first employee of Lightbend (formerly Typesafe).
At Lightbend he helped the company grow from 5 to 85 employees, playing the roles of engineer, technical lead, consultant, trainer or sales engineer.
Iulian is a frequent speaker at conferences and actively contributing to several open-source projects.

Mirco Dotta
Mirco learned Scala during his studies at EPFL, and since then he can claim over ten years experience with it.
Before co-founding Triplequote, he joined Lightbend as one of the first employees and played an important role in Lightbend’s growth by wearing many hats: engineer, trainer, sales, and EMEA consulting manager.
Mirco is a frequent speaker at conferences and an active open-source contributor.

Ciprian Ciubotariu
Ciprian has been in love with computers since he was a child, following this passion throughout his life. He enjoys all domains related to information technology, from system programming to large scale applications, from low-level kernel development to scala’s functional programming.
Ciprian has submitted various contributions to open-source projects along the years, and is also an Apache committer. His main focus now is Scala, Hydra and Triplequote devops.
Advisory Board

Martin Odersky
Martin created the Scala programming language and is a professor in the programming research group at EPFL, the leading technical university in Switzerland.
Throughout his career, Martin’’s singular objective has been to make the basic job of writing programs faster, easier and more enjoyable. In the process, he has personally written more lines of Java and Scala code than almost any other individual in the world.
He wrote javac, the compiler used by the majority of today’’s Java programmers, and scalac, the compiler used by the fast-growing Scala community. He authored Programming in Scala, the best-selling book on Scala.
Previously he has held positions at IBM Research, Yale University, University of Karlsruhe and University of South Australia, after having obtained his doctorate from ETH Zürich as a student of Niklaus Wirth, the creator of Pascal.

François Stieger
Well known entrepreneur and angel investor in Switzerland . He has held senior operational positions in large corporations and mentored many successful startups. Among other roles, he was SVP of (EMEA) operations at VeriSign Inc., Managing Director of operations of Southern and Central Europe field operations at Oracle, EMEA VP Sales at Lightbend, and Venture Partner at Amadeus Capital Partners Limited.
François sits on the advisory board of the EPFL Faculty of Informatics and Communication, Socrata Inc. in Seattle, member of ICES Foundation (International Centre for Earth Simulation) in Geneva and is a board member of Broadvision Corp. in San Francisco.

Oliver White
Oliver has been helping startups and enterprises tell their technology stories since 2007. Currently Chief Storyteller and Product Marketing Manager at Lightbend, Oliver has dedicated much of his time to creating educational content and building community awareness around Reactive system architecture and tooling.
Oliver is a co-founder of Virtual JUG, the creator of the ZeroTurnaround content brand RebelLabs, and, somewhat unexpectedly, the coiner of the phrase “SMACK Stack”.
